julia ~ senior portrait session

Julia is one of my favorite muses. She’s modeled for me in the past ~ I’ve known her for 13 years. [It seems like yesterday that a darling precocious 4 year old climbed up onto my lap the day I met her!]

So the beauty, who is celebrating her 17th birthday today, came to me a few months ago for her portrait session.

Take one look at these images and you can see why she inspires me so much! Whether we were shooting her in her grandfather’s hat or in a beautiful studio setting, she rose to the occasion!

Some of my favorites are actually the result of a concept I had in my mind. Julia has these steely gray eyes and I wanted to capture her looking very regal in a gray silvery gown. Of course, you can’t just walk into a store and find a gray silvery gown! So we made one – kind of. 🙂 I placed her on the sofa of my interior designer friend Kitty Golding [of Kitty & Company, Chelsea Michigan]. I was so inspired by Kitty’s orange velvet sofa and AMAZING wallpaper. And of course, I was inspired by one of my favorite muses, Julia!

Here are a few “behind the scenes” iPhone shots.
